Syracuse

Syracuse University is a private university in Syracuse, New York, officially chartered in 1870 and boasting an enrollment of some 20,000 students1. It was a founding member of the Big East Conference in 1979.

Its football and basketball programs have produced many well-known professional greats, and its men’s basketball team was most recently crowned NCAA Division I champions in 2003. Once Orangemen and Orangewomen, Syracuse teams have been known as ‘The Orange’ in a branding effort introduced in 20042.
